Meet the Founder

With over 25 years of leadership in behavioral health, Ambrose Baros brings deep expertise, lived experience, and a lifelong commitment to the people and communities of Northern New Mexico.

As a licensed clinical social worker and alcohol and drug addiction counselor, Ambrose has worked across nearly every level of care—from juvenile corrections and school-based services to residential treatment centers and statewide recovery initiatives. His approach has always been rooted in cultural humility, trauma-informed care, and the belief that community voice should guide the systems built to serve them.

Before founding ACB Counseling & Consulting, Ambrose served as the Executive Director of Hoy Recovery Program, Inc., where he led transformative growth across both residential and outpatient services. Under his leadership, Hoy integrated evidence-based practices with cultural healing, expanding its reach and impact across New Mexico.

Ambrose has developed programs, led CARF and JCAHO accreditation readiness, written policies and procedures, trained clinical teams, and built systems of care that reflect the real-world challenges faced by both providers and clients. He now works closely with local and state agencies to expand access to high-quality, culturally responsive care—offering consulting and clinical services that help agencies and individuals thrive.

A lifelong resident of Northern New Mexico, Ambrose is deeply connected to the land, people, and cultures that shape this region. His work is driven by a love for his community and a steadfast belief that behavioral health systems should reflect the strengths, values, and lived realities of the people they serve. Through ACB Counseling & Consulting, Ambrose remains committed to building more responsive, inclusive, and effective systems of care—one partnership at a time.

When he’s not working, you’ll likely find him with family, outdoors, or enjoying a ride on his motorcycle.
